About the Sport
Disc golf is a fun sport/activity where players throw discs (modified Frisbees) at a series of targets. The game is similar to golf in that you tee off from a designated area and continue to take turns and throw until your disc lands in the target basket. Disc golf courses are designed with a variety of challenges including “fairways” that curve left or right, are tightly wooded or have long open stretches with elevation changes.
There are quite a few disc golf courses nearby.
- Pittsford, VT: Check out the free Pittsford Disc Golf Course with 18 holes. There is a beginner and advanced tee location on each hole.
- Manchester, VT: you should also try out the course at Hunter Park with a mixture of flat and lightly wooded terrain featuring 18 holes.
New disc golf courses are currently under construction at Castleton University as well as Lake Saint Catherine State Park. You can also stop by the bike shop and try out our “putting basket.”
